About This Procedure
Why Choose Meva Clinic?
Elevates sagging breast tissue and restores a youthful, perky projection.
Breastfeeding, weight loss and time can leave the breasts lower on the chest, with the nipples pointing downward. This is called ptosis, and a breast lift, or mastopexy, in Istanbul corrects it by reshaping the breast tissue, supporting it internally and moving the areola to a higher position. The consultation assesses how much sagging there is, which scar pattern fits, and whether volume is also needed; if so, a lift can be combined with implants as an augmentation-mastopexy. Surgery is under general anaesthesia, with 1 hospital night and about 5 hotel nights, and most people return to desk work within 7–10 days. Medical-travel complication insurance is available. If volume is your main goal, see breast augmentation.

The Clinical Procedure
Internal suspension and areola repositioning.
Measurements and Scar Pattern
With you standing, the surgeon marks the new nipple position and chooses the incision pattern, around the areola, around the areola plus a vertical line, or anchor-shaped, according to the degree of sagging.
General Anaesthesia
After pre-op tests, the breast lift is performed under general anaesthesia at the partner hospital.
Reshaping and Internal Support
The breast tissue is lifted and reshaped, and an internal support technique holds it higher on the chest wall. If an augmentation-mastopexy was planned, the implant is placed at this stage.
Areola Repositioning
The nipple and areola are moved up to the new position while staying connected to their blood supply; an enlarged areola can be reduced in diameter.
Skin Tailoring and Closure
Excess skin is removed and the incisions are closed in layers with fine sutures along the planned lines.
Dressings and Support Bra
Light dressings and a surgical support bra are applied, followed by one night of observation in hospital.
Recovery & Transformation Journey
Phase 1: Days 0–1
One night at the partner hospital. The breasts feel tight and swollen; pain relief is given and you start walking early.
Phase 2: Days 2–6
About 5 hotel nights with wound checks. Wear the support bra day and night, sleep on your back and avoid lifting. Post-op check before your flight home.
Phase 3: Weeks 2–6
Return to desk work usually after 7–10 days. Swelling reduces and the new shape begins to settle. Avoid sport, heavy lifting and underwired bras until your surgeon confirms, typically around 6 weeks.
Phase 4: Months 3–12
The breasts settle into their final shape and the scars gradually flatten and lighten. Remote follow-up helps track healing.
The Meva Advantage
Internal "Bra" technique for longer-lasting elevation.
Medical Guidelines & Safety Protocols
Hospital-based procedures are coordinated through accredited partner hospitals, including JCI-accredited institutions where clinically appropriate. Below are the clinical guidelines, safety protocols, and medical reference documentation for this procedure.
Indicated / Suitable For
- Women whose breasts have dropped after pregnancy, breastfeeding or weight loss, with the nipple at or below the breast fold
- Patients whose nipples point downward or whose areolas have stretched and enlarged
- Women who have completed their family or do not plan a pregnancy in the near future
- Patients at a stable weight, including after bariatric surgery once weight loss has plateaued
- Patients who accept scars around the areola, and in some cases vertically or in the breast fold, in exchange for a higher, firmer breast position
Contraindications / Not Suitable
- A pregnancy planned in the near future, as pregnancy and breastfeeding can undo much of the lift
- Smoking or nicotine use that cannot be stopped in the weeks before and after surgery, because it raises the risk of poor wound healing and reduced nipple circulation
- Ongoing significant weight loss, for example in the first months after bariatric surgery, before weight has stabilised
- An unexplained breast lump, abnormal breast imaging or nipple discharge that has not yet been investigated
- Uncontrolled diabetes, bleeding disorders or other serious medical conditions that impair healing
Pre-Operative Evaluation & Diagnostic Checks
Standing Measurements and Ptosis Grading: The distances from the notch at the base of the neck to the nipple and from the nipple to the breast fold are measured to grade the sagging and mark the new nipple position.
Scar Pattern and Volume Planning: The surgeon chooses between a periareolar, vertical or anchor pattern and decides whether implants are needed for upper-breast fullness.
Breast Imaging: Ultrasound, or mammography depending on age and history, to check the breast tissue before it is reshaped.
Laboratory Tests: Complete blood count, coagulation profile, biochemistry and infection screening, with blood sugar control checked where relevant.
Anaesthesia Assessment: Medical history, medications and ECG are reviewed at the partner hospital before general anaesthesia.
Potential Risks & Complications
In compliance with transparent clinical reporting, Meva Clinic ensures patients are fully informed of the physiological risks associated with surgical procedures through accredited partner-hospital safety protocols where clinically appropriate.
With an anchor pattern, the point where the vertical and fold scars meet is under the most tension and can open slightly. Tension-free closure, avoiding nicotine and limiting arm strain lower the risk; small openings usually heal with dressings over a few weeks.
Scars are pink and firm at first and mature over about 12 months; in some skin types they may widen or thicken. Layered fine sutures, scar care and sun protection help them flatten and lighten.
Nipple sensation can be reduced or heightened for months. The nipple stays attached to its blood supply during repositioning; poor nipple circulation is rare and is watched closely in the first days.
Minor differences in breast height, shape or areola size are common while swelling settles; careful marking while standing reduces them, and a small adjustment may be considered once healing is complete.
Gravity, weight changes, pregnancy and time can let the breast descend again. Internal support and a stable weight help the lift last longer, but no technique stops natural ageing.
Uncommon early collections of blood or fluid, or infection, watched for during the hospital night and wound checks at the hotel. If implants are added, implant-related risks such as capsular contracture also apply.
Realistic Expectations & Outcomes
A breast lift raises and reshapes the breast and moves the nipple to a higher, forward-facing position. On its own it adds little volume; for fuller upper breasts, an augmentation-mastopexy may be discussed. In the first weeks the breasts look high and feel tight, with noticeable swelling; they gradually soften and settle over about 3 months. The final shape is usually judged at around 6 to 12 months, when the scars have also flattened and faded. Scars do not disappear, although they are usually discreet within the bra line. Ageing, weight changes and future pregnancy can affect how long the lift lasts.
Revision & Follow-Up Policy
Remote reviews at 1, 3, 6 and 12 months, with photos sent through your coordinator, track scar healing and breast shape. Because the skin envelope relaxes and scars mature over roughly a year, any scar revision or shape adjustment is considered only after full healing, normally around 12 months. Each request is assessed individually by the surgeon on medical findings, while early wound-healing issues are managed as they arise. For 12 months after your treatment you can also send photos to the medical team whenever you wish and receive their feedback, and your questions are answered remotely.
